RK's Halloween Countdown 2026 Begins!
I’ve debated doing a Halloween blogging event for a few years now. The “blogging” “event” I did last was my Christmas Cereal countdown and before that I did a 2018 summer vacation blog and tried but failed at a 2019 one. Life gets in the way, I know this, and I assume that what happened when one of the “Godfathers” of the nostalgia movement stopped doing his Halloween Countdown in 2023 after doing it for TWENTY FRIGGEN YEARS!
Thats being said, another reason I wanted to do this besides that I LOVE halloween is that I’m kind of “over” social media. I don’t like their algorithms and I don’t want my posts to lead towards META making money off of myself and the RAD-A-MANIACS! Come to this website, there are no ads. I post the videos here to YouTube but I do not monetize. We’re just here to enjoy halloween with a nostalgic bent together without being tracked or sold to. Anyway, enough of my non-sense. ONTO THE COUNTDOWN.
I’m going to preface this with sorry for my horrible grammar, I’m a television professional and half and idiot.
We start with our awesome new Rad Years Logo, HAND DRAWN by the legendary Corey Sebring. I had him screen record his progress and made a video below so you can see for yourselves that there is absolutely ZERO AI artwork by the Rad Years crew! I know I promised apparel for our next logo, but do you also think enamel pins would be cool? Croc Jibbets? Stickers? Comment below and let me know
The Point of all of this is for us to collectively get into the Halloween spirit together! Lets go old school and get into the comments of each post and discuss the topics, ill try to prompt the conversation on each post. (Cue my depression when I get zero comments on each post) (kidding) (but not really)
I loved the years when Dino Drac would list for you things you can do right now to get into the Halloween Spirit, so I’m going to list what I’ve been doing.
Go on instagram and follow Little Ghost World. Their content brings me nothing but joy and quickly puts me right in the nostalgic Halloween Spirit. I loved this season so much when I was a kid and these short little animations somehow tap into that feeling for me. If you visit, let them know in the comments the Rad Years Podcast sent you!
2. Listen to the soundtrack for the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! I’ve been doing this a lot, and I feel like it’s a great way to begin the season. I have it on an orange pumpkin cut out vinyl record (you can get a ghost white one from Target and a Pumpkin Spice Swirl one from Walmart) Listening in my car is usually via my music app. While walking I recorded it from the music app onto cassette tape. (Can we all start pirating again?)
3. Light a bunch of Halloween Candles- I prefer the pumpkin scented ones but they all count. My favorite is from Bath and Body works called Pumpkin Carving, which with the rest of their Halloween stuff is on sale now. Yankee, Target, practically everybody has their Halloween candle collection out now, but I suggest going to stores to smell them first.
4.THE HUNT! Not just cameras, but candy, cereal, cookies, cakes decorations EVERYTHING is out or slowly starting to trickle out. Half of the fun of Halloween is going to Target or my local grocery store is the hunt and finding something new!
5. Go to dinosaurdracula.com and scroll through his archives! It’s easier to get to on a desktop browser, but he has countdown’s from 2012-2022! If you’re reading this and thinking “well this sucks” you can enjoy the innovator of the medium and all his glory. Unfortunately his earlier countdowns from X-Entertainment are no longer online but still, these old dino drac ones are amazing.
Okay! That’s all for now! Go into the comments and aside from letting me know what merch I should get, let me know what you do to get into the Halloween Spirit. Check back often, I’m gonna try to upload every few days!
