25 Days of Cereal Day 9: Super Mario Cereal

If you’ve been reading every day, you’ve noticed when I talk about cereals from the past, a certain company name keeps coming up. Ralston was the KING of licensed cereals in the 80’s and 90’s. With a good IP on your box you really didn’t even have to have an appealing cereal, your box just sold because it had a big beautiful Batman logo on it.

Below is a gallery of Ralston Cereals. Some of my favorites were obviously Ghostbusters Cereal, Batman Returns Cereal (Chocolate Chex and Marshmallows) (Chex and Cookie chips were Ralston Cereals) Teenage Mutant Ninja Cereal and Spiderman the animated series cereal

Others they made were Rainbow Bright Cereal, Breakfast with Barbie Cereal, Cabbage Patch Kids cereal, Hot Wheels Cereal, Donkey Kong Cereal, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Cereal, Gremlins Cereal, Urkel-o’s, Gi-Joe action star cereal, Adams Family Cereal, Jetson’s Cereal, Cracker Jack Cereal, WWF Super STARS cereal and more.

One of the coolest cereals was Nerds cereal, which has two flavors in two separate bags in 1 box. Then they later released another cereal with the same concept, the Nintendo Cereal System, which had a Mario Brothers Cereal and a Legend of Zelda Cereal, in separate bags in 1 box.

This was a HUGE hit, in fact all of the Ralston cereals were huge hits.

We’ve been missing a Mario Brothers Cereal in our lives, until last year, when Kelloggs released Super Mario Brothers Cereal.

Today, I’ll review it.

I pulled it out of the box and say some decent marshamallow pieces. The box said it was mixed berry flavor and I was worried it would be too overpowering.

The cereal pieces were heavy oat base, so I was excited. I poured a bowl, added milk and dug in. My review in 1 line is “a less sweet Lucky Charms” and I say that as a huge compliment. This stuff was delicious. The mixed berry flavor was very subtle, and mixed with the marshmallows it was a delicious cereal.

I know you think I’m never going to give a bad review to a cereal, but these have all been great so far
I’m watching Home Alone 2 with Enchantress and Olive with 1 eye and even Schmuffin is here, so in the spirit of the movie I give this a perfect 2 out of 2 turtle doves
