Unboxing The Real Ghostbusters Glow Copter

When I was a kid in 1986 at 4 years old I was OBSESSED with the Real Ghostbusters. They were THEE toy for me.  I had the figures, the firehouse the vehicles everything.  The show debuted in September of 1986 and it got me instantly.  The first wave of figures hit the shelves in January 1987 and I remember getting me first one from K&K toy store.  That summer for my birthday, more RGB figures and toys.  At Christmas Eve at my Grandma’s house my aunt asked me if I’ve ever seen the movie and my eyes lit up “THERE’S A MOVIE?!?!”.  We would go on to rent it and record it to VHS tape that winter. (The next day on Christmas morning, I would get the Firehouse play set)

By 1991, it wasn’t that I didn’t care about Ghostbusters anymore, but I found new loves.  WWF and their Hasbro figures.  Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles and the playmates line.  The Nintendo Entertainment System and all of the various games!  Meanwhile Kenner just keep reproducing different versions of the same 6 characters.  When the Ecto-Glow series hit the shelves, nobody really cared, and the line was canceled.  The proposed Glow-Copter never hit shelves, and the line was done.

Fast forward to 2019, Hasbro is going to rerelease the original line.  Then they start doing more, the 2nd wave with Fright Features, then some for SDCC exclusive.  They did the 4 original busters in a set last year, and this year they released the Glow Copter and Louis Tully as a set.  I was worried because I have a carded Louis Tully Figure from the original line and he’s still worth a lot of money, but no fear, no carded re-released here.  He’s packed in with the copter.

This is a cool set and I set him up so I can play with him when nobody is looking. (I live alone so that’s very easy)
