Halloween Hunting at a Junk Store
I’m sure you’ve all been in a store like this before. People rent a section, and sell their goods there. Crafts, collectables, antiques etc. This place was called Attic Mice 2, in the once GLORIOUS South Mall in Allentown. If you listen to the podcast, you’ve probably heard me wax poetic about going there on Friday nights in my youth. This mall is a SHELL of it’s former self, with this Attic Mice store occupying a store I used to dread spending any amount of time in, THE FASHION BUG. That being said, it was late August, I was off on a Saturday, I had a hankering for some Halloween junk hunting so I figured I might as well check out the junk store.
As you can see in the gallery below there was a variety of Halloween Junk, but I really only got one thing that was TRUELY Halloween, so lets look at my crap.
A Kellogg’s Corn Pops box from 1993
This box had a promo for a mail away pair of Ren and Stimpy shorts. I almost passed on it but for 10 bucks I figured fuck it, and I can add it to my collection. There is nothing really distinct about this box as Corn Pop’s doesn’t change up their art EVER, but the Ren and Stimpy shorts made it a worthy purchase.
Ace Ventura Pet Detective Bonus disc with the animated series on it.
So apparently there was an Ace Ventura DVD set and it had both films and this bonus disc that has 3 episodes of the animated series on it. I was interested in seeing these and for 2 bucks why not. Some lunatic is selling this exact disc for 39.99 plus 16.95 shipping on eBay right now?
Ducktales Volume 2
For some reason this is just Volume 2 not Season 2. It has 20 episodes plus the pilot. It’s sealed for 15 bucks which from what I'm seeing on eBay and amazon is a pretty good deal. I haven’t watched classic Ducktales episodes in a long time, so I figured I have to fix that ASAP.
Chasing Amy DVD
I already own this, but for 5 bucks, why not own it again. I love the extras with this including Kevin saying FUCK DVD because the content was originally recorded for laser disc.
Argo Blu-Ray
Sealed for 5 bucks? If I’d passed on this deal I’d of said argo-fuck myself.
Jurassic Park Institute Tour pen
This was was a head scratcher for me, so I went home and looked it up and WOW it was this 50,000 sq ft tour that basically pretended you were touring an ingen facility while learning about paleontology. You can read more about it here There was even and tie in GBA game that was sold exclusively at the tour. This pen is a cool memento of something I didn’t even know existed.
6x 32oz “Homer Sized” cups from subway in 1997
I walked past these multiple times, I could’t just leave them there.
Disney classic cassette
I can’t tell what songs are on this and I might not even open it to find out
FINALLY the ONE HALLOWEEN piece I bought.
Vintage Jack-O-Lantern sun catcher.
This was definitely a cheap 80’s and 90’s decoration that was probably found in dollar stores, Pharmacy’s and Hallmark shops. It’s just a plastic Jack-o-lantern with some ghosts painted in it and it’s translucent so you can put it on your window and the sun catches it and the colors light up your room. It was only 5 bucks and it brought back a wave of nostalgia for me so I figured why not buy it.
That’s one in the package someone is selling on Etsy
Well that’s it for today. Sound off in the comments, What from this lot would you have bought? Also where do you go to hunt for old Halloween junk?
