Halloween Comics: Quoth The Raven... Whatever!

So this has been a busy week! Lot of good comics, and I went and dropped a lot of money up at New York Comic Con. Before we get into this weeks Halloween comic review, lets talk about what new books I picked up this week

First is the new Marvel Midnight line, which is their “horror” universe and I’m assuming in a way their answer to the Absolute universe at DC? Maybe? They put out three Midnight titles, Midnight Spider-man, Midnight Fantastic Four, and of course Midnight X-Men. I haven’t read them yet, and once I do I’ll report back, but I’ve heard amazing stuff, especially about Midnight Spider-man.

Next up is this Batman #14, and all my variant covers. This is still under the bad seeds store arch, and man DC is killing it with this. As you can see I also picked up Bat Girl which is a Bad Seeds tie in book.

Next up the DC’s The Demon #1. James Harren is the writer and artist on this book and they’re both fantastic. The story of Jason Blood and the demon Etrigan. It has Merlin, Morgaine Le Fey and all the characters you’d expect in this book.

Up Next is Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death #1. Putting the Demon and Jonah Hex books at #1’s out in October is smart business DC! I haven’t read yet, but Michael Walsh is the writer and artist on this book and I’m excited to see where it goes.

Speaking of genius, relaunching Sabrina the Teenage Witch in October, and setting the first story around Halloween is what writer Corinna Bechko and artist Kano do with this new title, they had a handful of variant covers but I picked up these two! There is a cool incentive cover with Sabrina and Salem on her broomstick which is I see somewhere, I’ll probably grab.

Another Halloween book, Beneath the Trees where nobody Sees Halloween Special, I dont know much about this but I knew I wanted to grab it and read it. I grabbed two covers of this anthology book, which has a handful of writers and artists.

Hellboy in Hell: Nothing but Blood #1 is book 1 of a 2 book mini series written by the man himself Mike Mignola, so I couldn’t skip this book. Plus, it’s two books and book 2 released November 18th. Haven’t read yet but excited to dive in.

Finally, our feature book. DC’s Quoth The Raven… Whatever! It’s a Halloween anthology book with Raven on the cover and in the first story! Each story is short featuring various DC characters. We get Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Deadman, Earth Prime Superboy, Vixen, Doctor 13, Catwoman and more.

The art changes with each story, and that’s a good thing! It keeps the book interesting. There are 8 total stories in this book, my favorite stories were For Abby, featuring Swamp Thing and Tricks, Treats and Comic Books featuring Superboy. This was releases with 2 variant covers and a main cover, I highlight recommend picking up this 10 dollar book from your Local Comic book Store asap.
